WARS OF THE FIRST SPACE AGE

- The “Second Cold War” is described as beginning in 2023, with the colonisation of Mars by Himmat Emani and Kira Bose (Indian Space Research Organisation), and latterly the “Galileo’s Disaster” event, which claimed over a dozen lives in the process of claiming the Galilean moons of Jupiter. Principally a conflict between the Inter-Stellar Treaty Organisation (ISTO, the inter-planetary successor to NATO), The Russian-led Eurasian Security Alliance (ESA), and the China-led East Asian Space Union, the conflict also involved other political & security blocs.

- The Apex War commenced in 2095, and can either be considered to have ended with the Second Great Cataclysm in 2097, or with the Schrodingers Gambit manoeuvre in 2099. Either view has its detractors, the former due to hostilities continuing between belligerents after 2GC, the latter as mankind was plunged into the War Of The Remnant during this period. The Apex War can be considered the first “Worlds War”, as it involved all of  mankind, and was the first war between worlds. The name was coined due to the nomenclature “Apex” being applied to the aggressors.

- The Remnant Division, although not a war in the conventional sense, has nevertheless been recorded by historians as a significant event, as it was the first post-2GC conflict. If not for the release of The Legacy Files, commentators widely agree that the first after-Earth civil war would have happened at this point, mere weeks after the loss of our home.

- The War Of The Remnant commenced and concluded in 2099, occurring entirely in system 65 (the 65th star system visited by mankind), centred around the world named by some as “New Zion” (a name hotly disputed).
